Ebook About An Ability to RiseRisé was named after the opera star Risë Stevens. It was as if her mother knew that Risé was not meant to be written into the family’s tragedies. In fact, from a young age Risé found a way to rise above the chaos, abuse, and molestation of her childhood, eventually escaping the weight of her family, and learning to love and believe in herself. This story is a testament to her deep determination and innate courage.Book Rise: A Memoir Review :
By accident of birth we get the life were are going to have...Race, mental illness, alcoholism, poverty or wealth all define our future and if we will have love or even our basic needs met. Being raised with a mentally ill mother and alcoholic stepfather like yourself I will always carry the scars. I also made eventually good choices and have a great life. No matter what ... I am just wired differently. I have PTSD that can randomly strike. Back in therapy right now and always a work in progress. I have been able to skip the cycle and my daughter says she had the perfect life growing up. I live by my grandchildren (3) of them and they love their Grammie. I was lucky to marry at 27 to a great partner and have been married 43 years. Lots of stability there. Sadly, our story (more similar than you know) is still so common. Unless children are in danger of being killed they are not removed from the home as there is no place to take them to. There are just too many. My heart is just so sad for that little girl and and young woman who didn’t get to be loved or a source of joy for your parent’s. Your story was so moving. I can see how you gave been unable to turn from those in your life who constantly need your help. Your childhood made your generous and caring who you are. Sharing your story is so brave and freeing... Thank you and please ... just be happy Okay, I guess I live in a bubble but this type of family seems to be so foreign to me. It makes me ill to think this happens. I am not sure how I feel about this book. I am happy Rise beat her demons but yet, I feel so much anger at the others. I wish to hell her mother and father had been arrested. I wish the kids had gone into foster care - while not great it might have saved a few of them. I am so upset that they were left in this horrid lifestyle. Her mother should have been in jail. I can not understand forgiveness on any level. What was done to those children is unforgivable.
